Rangers duo Jack Thomson and Rhys Breen are heading Stateside after it was confirmed the pair have agreed loan moves to Gers’ partner Orange County SC in California.

The USL Championship side announced the arrival of the Ibrox Academy stars on their official website, with both deals having been in the works for a while.

Breen, a defender, has spent the season out on loan with Partick Thistle and then Queen of the South, while midfielder Thomson has recently concluded a stint with League One Clyde.

“The second Rangers mentioned the opportunity to come to Orange County. It was a no-brainer,” Breen said, speaking to OCSC’s website.

“I was out on loan in Scotland and learned so much from it. I know by coming to Orange County I’m going to progress a lot more in my career and do well for myself and the team. I can’t wait to get started in a new environment and work with my new teammates and staff. I can’t wait to get out onto the pitch now and get started.”

They become Orange County’s 12th and 13th signings ahead of the USL season getting underway and are the latest Gers youngsters to head across the Atlantic.

Cammy Palmer and Danny Finlayson also spent time with the American side in 2020 while keeper Aaron Cervantes recently completed his switch in the opposite direction.
