Glasgow Rangers midfielder Jordan Rossiter has returned to training, but has been left out of the Ibrox side’s Europa League squad.

One of the headline-grabbing omissions from Rangers’ squad for their Europa League group-stage campaign was Jordan Rossiter, with the midfielder yet to make a competitive appearance since Steven Gerrard was appointed.
Rossiter has barely featured for the Gers since arriving, and his absence from the European squad left many of the supporters feeling that his career at Ibrox may be finished, especially as there had been few updates on his fitness over recent weeks.
But now it appears that writing Rossiter off may have been premature after the club uploaded a video from the training ground which includes all of the players who have not gone away on international duty.
And amongst those out on the pitch was Rossiter, with the former Liverpool midfielder taking part in a game of keepy-uppies. He is not working with the majority of the squad, but it is still a hugely encouraging sign after such a torrid time.

But, with Rossiter back taking part in some training, perhaps it would be fair to say that the decision to leave him out of the Europa League squad altogether now looks slightly confusing.
The youngster may not be back too quickly, but he is surely not so far away that he could be ruled out of all six games of the group-stages.

Of course, Gerrard may be looking to monitor his workload extremely closely, and some will argue that it makes sense to not use him on Thursday nights if he is potentially going to be involved in the Scottish Premiership again.
But to not leave the option open to either field Rossiter in domestic or European games seems a little confusing. If he thrives in any league games over the coming months, it may prove to be a little bit disappointing that he seemingly cannot feature in Europe.
