Glasgow Rangers will be looking to bounce back from two consecutive defeats at Ibrox when they return to Scottish Premiership action.

Rangers imanager Graeme Murty is seen during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Aberdeen at Ibrox Stadium on January 24, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

For a while, it appeared that Rangers were going to go into this international break potentially right on Celtic’s tails in the Scottish Premiership, having seen the gap close with an excellent winning run in the build up to the recent Old Firm game.

However, two defeats on the spin have taken the wind right out of the Gers’ sails and their biggest challenge upon their return from the international break – in the league, at least – is to ensure that they do not lose second place to Aberdeen.

What will make the Light Blues’ job all the more difficult is the fact that their next game sees them travel to Fir Park to face Motherwell, who put on something of a 10-man masterclass in their recent draw with Celtic. The Hoops opened Well up at times, but were unable to find of the back of the net, and that will be leaving Graeme Murty with plenty to ponder after the Gers failed to score against Kilmarnock last time out.

What will give Murty more belief is that it appears that Lee Wallace and Graham Dorrans may be pushing for an opportunity having recently featured in a bounce game after being involved in a development fixture before the defeat to Killie.

It may be a gamble to throw Dorrans straight back in, but it appears to be the perfect game for the £750,000 signing – fee reported by the Daily Record – to come back in and make his first appearance for the club since Pedro Caixinha’s final game in charge.

Rangers’ midfield has struggled in the last two games. Sean Goss is going through his worst spell of form since arriving on loan, and the calls for the QPR-owned youngster to be replaced have intensified.

If Murty does decide to throw Dorrans back in, he can be confident that the 30-year-old should be ready to make an impact as it was the midfielder who made the difference on his Rangers debut at the same ground on the opening day of the season, scoring both of the Gers’ goals in a 2-1 win.

After two defeats in a row, Rangers need some inspiration to get their campaign back on track, and it looks as if Dorrans could be ready to provide that if Murty is willing to give him a chance.
