Charlie Adam has told TalkSPORT (Wednesday, 7:40AM) that Giovanni van Bronckhorst has made the right decision to leave Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox – ahead of Wednesday night’s clash against PSV Eindhoven.
The Gers face a hugely-difficult test against PSV. A second-leg Champions play-off tie against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side, after the two clubs drew 2-2 at Ibrox in the first leg. Van Bronckhorst had to make a decision regarding Morelos.
The 26-year-old has made four appearances for Rangers this season, but all four have come from the bench. He scored against Kilmarnock in a 2-0 win. But now in the final year of his deal, there are concerns over his fitness and attitude.
The Colombia international has been left out of the 23-man squad to take on PSV. Van Bronckhorst has made the bold decision, placing his faith in Antonio Colak. Rangers legend Adam says the Dutch gaffer has made the right decision.

“Exactly how Giovanni has dealt with it,” Adam said, when asked how he would have dealt with the situation, if he was Rangers manager. “It’s not like the players are scrambling to the manager that we really need him.
“The players look like they’re fed up that he’s got away with it for far too long. He’s scored so many goals, but this is the best decision for the group. You don’t them in the football club, they ruin the sessions everyday.”
Adam: Van Bronckhorst right to leave Rangers striker Morelos at Ibrox
It is a massive move. Morelos, on his day, is the club’s best player. This is the club’s biggest game of the season so far, with massive implications for the financial structure of the club – and of course the club’s ambition to grow.
But if his attitude, and his fitness, are not at the required standard, a decision needs to be made. Rangers have plenty of attacking talent, including the likes of Tom Lawrence, Ryan Kent, Malik Tillman, Rabbi Matondo and more.
They have the firepower to do it without Morelos – proven by their first-leg clash against PSV. If they lose to PSV, the blame will hardly be put on van Bronckhorst. The reaction has been to defend the Rangers boss from fans.
