Rangers made a double swoop on Accrington Stanley this summer. Mark Warburton snapped up both Josh Windass and Matt Crooks from the club after their contracts had expired.

Windass has already featured for Rangers this season but Crooks is having to be patient.

The 22-year-old has been injured for the duration of his stay at Ibrox so far and has not yet made his debut.

However, speaking to the official Rangers website, he clearly has his eye on a very special first game.

Crooks is looking to make his official Rangers debut in the Old Firm game with Celtic next month.

He stated:

“Hopefully I will be back after the international break so that will be for the Old Firm as my first game so that is a nice one to be back in contention for.

“It will be good to get playing with the lads, training is all well and good but a game is different, it is a good game for me to play in and just get used to it.”

Rangers travel to Parkhead on the 10th of September, after the international break, in what will be first meeting of the two teams in the top-flight for some time.

Crooks will no doubt be fortunate if Warburton decides to throw him into the Rangers reckoning for such an important game – but it is clear that the young midfielder is keen on getting that chance.

Rangers have got another great signing on their hands in Crooks and hopefully he can feature for the Ibrox club and Mark Warburton as soon as possible.
