Rangers and Celtic both have a massive transfer window ahead, far bigger than normal.
Earlier this month, the Hoops were crowned Scottish Premiership champions for the ninth year in succession.
As a result, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard, whose side were 13 points behind Celtic when the season was finished, is charged with having to stop their Old Firm rivals making it 10 in a row come next May.
And Gerrard has already made a brilliant start to the recruitment drive, bringing in Ianis Hagi in a £3 million deal.
Hagi had dazzled for the light Blues since joining on a half-season loan from Genk originally in January.
And although a lot more is needed to stop Celtic, his fellow Romanian and former Ger Dorin Goian says he’s ‘confident’ that Hagi will be able to stop a landmark success at Parkhead next season.
He told The Scottish Sun: “I’m confident Ianis Hagi can help Rangers stop Celtic winning their tenth title.
“I’m sure Rangers believe this too, otherwise they wouldn’t have signed him.
“They believe in Hagi and Rangers have trust in his qualities. It doesn’t matter that Celtic have won the last nine league titles.”
Is Goian right? Well you can’t fault his optimism, but the truth is that Celtic have a winner’s mentality right now and Rangers don’t. Is Hagi going to change that? Potentially not.
Gerrard’s side are a match for their Glasgow rivals, whom they beat in December to move two points behind in the title race, but their abysmal form in the second half of the in terms of consistency.
