Rangers new boy Juan Alegria has opened up after finally completing his move to Ibrox from Finnish side FC Honka – and thanked the Light Blues for showing faith in him to make the step up to the next level.
The Colombian has been chased by Rangers for much of the last two years and finally put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Ibrox, initially linking up with Rangers‘ B team.
After his move was confirmed the Colombia youth international took to Instagram to write a lengthy message to Rangers fans and give thanks for his move.
“As a child you always dream of being a professional soccer player but you don’t know the magnitude and much less the way to achieve it,” Alegria wrote.
“As the years go by you learn what the goals cost and that the path is a challenge. It forms you through the processes, a word that you have to understand and apply since through processes we acquire values.
“Today on such a special day for me I want to thank God, family and football, and each person who has been part of my integral process as an athlete. Thanks to the Rangers club for believing in me, thanks to the fans for every message received from many days ago.
“I always felt from you the positive energy that football generates in our hearts. I will work hungrier and continue for more goals and positive results.”
The striker made 24 appearances for Honka while in Finland, scoring three times and getting his first taste of European football.
While Alegria might have a while to wait before he gets European football at Rangers, the Colombian’s signing has already got Gers fans excited.
He could be handed a debut this afternoon when the B team face Vale of Leithen – however he may have to wait until the Light Blues face Broomhill next weekend.
