Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers signed Matt Crooks from Accrington, but he has not been able to join in with training yet.
Glasgow Rangers new boy Matt Crooks has admitted to the Daily Record that his start to life with the Ibrox side has not gone according to plan.
Crooks joined Rangers this summer, but he is yet to show Mark Warburton what he can do on the training field.
The midfielder has been out with an ankle injury since March, and he has still not fully recovered.
Crooks was taken on Rangers’ pre-season tour of America, but he has not been able to join in with the training sessions that Warburton has put on.
And he said: “It’s frustrating. I wanted to train while I was here in the States but it doesn’t seem that’s going to happen. It’s an ankle joint injury and they’re always a bit different so I must make sure I’m 100 per cent ready.”
Crooks has joined Rangers from Accrington Stanley, so he is taking a big step up by moving to Ibrox.
The 22-year-old impressed in League Two last season, when he performed a key role for Jon Coleman’s side.
Crooks was signed at the same time as fellow Accrington teammate Josh Windass.
In Crooks’ absense, Rangers won their first pre-season match of the season – by beating Charleston Battery 2-1.
Rangers are due to travel back from America today, with the rest of their preparation for the new season due to take place at home in Glasgow.
