Rangers new boy Joey Barton hits out at rivals fans, but after his recent comments about Celtic, what did he expect?
Burnley’s Joey Barton
Rangers new boy Joey Barton has hit out on Twitter at rival fans being ‘obsessed’ with him.
Barton is not shy in coming forward with an opinion, and has been particularly outspoken since moving to Ibrox on a free transfer this summer from Burnley.
In recent days Barton has hit out at Celtic skipper Scott Brown, telling TalkSPORT he is not in his league, and also criticised Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, for failing to win trophies with Liverpool, The Mail reported.

It is unsurprising that Barton’s comments have caused a backlash, and evidently feeling this a little, he used Twitter to condemn those subsequently taking shots at him.
Barton’s comments may be designed to put the pressure on Celtic next season, with Rangers returning to the top flight, but it could backfire by motivating them even further to win a sixth consecutive title.
If Barton keeps quiet then what he calls ‘obsession’ with him – others may simply say criticism of him – may subside, but that isn’t really his style.
