Rangers striker Fashion Sakala is raring to get started at Ibrox after the Zambian striker got his first glimpse of the stadium yesterday – and told fans he is “very happy” to finally get going.
The striker had to quarantine before joining his new teammates for pre-season training following his move from KV Oostende and was put through his paces yesterday by the club’s fitness and sports science staff.
After getting a tour around the stadium, Sakala admits it is “different” to what he’s seen on TV, calling the Edmiston Drive ground “massive.”
“Wow, it is amazing to be here, it is very nice to be here,” Sakala told Rangers TV.
“I tried to take all the pictures and I have watched games but it is not the same.
“What we see on the TV is different.
“Like, to see it in person it is massive, it is massive.
“I mean I feel like it is time to start playing football now.
“Yes, I am very happy, very happy to make this step to be here and to start playing each and every week in such a beautiful stadium with great history.”
Sakala needs to hit the ground running after falling behind Rangers teammates
With the Zambian being a few weeks behind his Rangers teammates he really needs to hit the ground running if he is to come in and make an immediate impact.
It seems very unlikely he’ll be involved against Arsenal tomorrow but the trip to Blackpool or next weekend’s games with Brighton and Real Madrid should see him get some minutes.
Alfredo Morelos’ extended summer after participating in Copa America could open the door for Sakala to get a chance early in the season though and Rangers fans have been eagerly awaiting his arrival ever since his pre-contract signing was announced earlier this year.
