Rangers’ new signing Emerson Hyndman has discussed his move to Ibrox.
Rangers’ new signing Emerson Hyndman has told the club’s official website that he spoke to Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe about a move to Ibrox.
Hyndman, 20, made 28 appearances for Fulham following a 2011 move from his hometown club FC Dallas, but chose to leave Craven Cottage when his contract expired last summer.
A number of clubs were linked with the midfielder, but he chose to sign for Premier League side Bournemouth, where he has been competing for first-team football with the likes of Jack Wilshere, Andrew Surman, Dan Gosling and Harry Arter.

With just one start – which came in Saturday’s 3-0 FA Cup defeat to Arsenal – Hyndman has been on the fringes of the Bournemouth side, and he’s now left the club to join Rangers on loan.
Mark Warburton needed midfield reinforcements having seen Niko Kranjcar suffer a season-ending knee injury, and Hyndman has now penned a deal until the end of the campaign.
United States international team-mate Gedion Zelalem played for the Gers last season having joined on loan from Arsenal, and Hyndman has now revealed that he received encouragement about a move to Ibrox – but not from Zelalem.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe
Hyndman has told the Rangers official website that he spoke to Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe about the move, and Howe told him that Rangers boss Warburton is ‘very good’, particularly with young players.
Hyndman added that he is excited by the prospect of playing in front of 50,000 fans at Ibrox, and he knew Rangers growing up – not a huge surprise given that fellow Americans Carlos Bocanegra, DaMarcus Beasley, Claudio Reyna, Maurice Edu and Alejandro Bedoya all turned out for the club.
“I got Eddie Howe’s input before I signed, he had no problems or worries with me coming here at all because he fully believes the manager here is very good and good with young players as well so he had no problems with handing me over to him,” said Hyndman.
“There were a lot of reasons I wanted to sign for Rangers, it is a massive club, they are fighting for Europe and there are good players here. I think it is a good opportunity for me to play in, not just a good environment, but in front of 50,000 fans at home which is absolutely unbelievable. That is why I chose to come here.”
“Obviously I knew about Rangers growing up, it is one of those worldwide brands and the Scottish league is quite big, it is on TV all the time and I would watch it all the time. So when I heard Rangers were interested I was very keen on coming up. I was really excited when I got shown around the training facilities, you already know it is a big club but really it is a huge club,” he added.
