Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has discussed his settling in period at Ibrox.

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has told The Scottish Herald that he is finding the change from artificial to grass pitches the most difficult aspect of his move to Glasgow.

Colombian hitman Morelos, 20, is one of eight signings made by Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha this summer, with the Gers swooping to land the poacher earlier this month.

Formerly with Independiente Medellin, Morelos starred in Finland with HJK Helsinki, smashing 40 goals in 52 games for them following a 2016 move to the Telia 5g -areena.

Now, Morelos heads to Rangers in a bid to emulate that goalscoring form, and he could kickstart his Gers career when they take on Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League on Thursday.

However, Morelos isn’t the only striker signed by Caixinha this summer, as he has also swooped to land Mexican international Eduardo Herrera having worked together at Santos Laguna.

Whilst Morelos’ game is mostly based on predatory instincts, Herrera is more of a traditional target man, offering a focal point with strength and aerial ability, meaning they could play together or be competing for one position.

Now, Morelos has spoken to The Scottish Herald about his move to Rangers, admitting that he knows all about Herrera and is looking forward to an ‘interesting duel’ between the pair as they battle for playing time.

Morelos added that the most difficult thing he has found since making the move to Ibrox is the adjustment from playing on artificial pitches to playing on grass, but he feels he is adapting well to life in Scottish football.

“All my team-mates at Rangers have received me very well since I came to Scotland,” said Morelos. “I’m happy – the fans are incredible. I have had so many messages of support. Now I want to play on Thursday to show what I can do. I don’t know all my team-mates yet, but I know Eduardo Herrera. He has already played for Mexico and has had a good career and he scores goals.”

“We play in the same position so it will be an interesting duel. It’s going to be a bit difficult to get a place in the team, but not impossible, I’m training as hard as I can to show I deserve to play. The most difficult thing I’ve found since I came to Scotland has been the pitches. In Finland, they play and train on artificial pitches, but in Scotland everything is done on grass. I feel I am adapting really well and I am learning all the time with the Rangers coaches,” he added.
