A whole host of Scottish Premiership sides want Baily Cargill, but Rangers should be at the top of that list.

Bournemouth defender Baily Cargill is reportedly being monitored by a whole host of Scottish Premiership sides and Graeme Murty’s Rangers need to be at the top of that list.
His contract with Premier League side Bournemouth is set to expire at the end of the season, with Eddie Howe’s Cherries unlikely to explore the option of extending the deal which makes him available on a free.

His quality is obvious; Howe has entrusted him with 11 senior appearances for Bournemouth while the seven-time England Under-20 international has shown the gritty defensive solidity that is required north of the border.
He would be an excellent signing for the Gers, but not just because of his proven talent in the Scottish Premiership. On a free, he would be a cheap alternative that would otherwise set Rangers back a fair chunk of their summer budget.
Norwich City loanee Russell Martin has made a couple of mistakes since moving to Ibrox, not least in the Gers’ 5-3 win over Hamilton on Sunday afternoon, which could affect his chances of earning a permanent move.

He gave away possession for the Accies’ second, which was duly dispatched by former Rangers man David Templeton, before conceding the penalty which was hammered into the back of the net by Dougie Imrie.
Bruno Alves’ future remains in doubt at Ibrox after being linked with a move away in January, while David Bates is yet to see his contract extended despite a number of decent displays at the back.
Cargill would be an excellent signing, then, not only because he has shown his talent north of the border but a cheap signing to replace the potential loss of Martin, Bates and Alves.
