Rangers have sacked beleaguered manager Pedro Caixinha today.

Former Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has taken to Twitter to offer his reaction to the club’s decision to sack manager Pedro Caixinha this afternoon.
Less than 24 hours on from Wednesday’s 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock – a game in which Rangers missed a penalty, had a man sent off and conceded an equaliser all in injury time – Caixinha has gone following a board meeting earlier today.
The Portuguese boss – formerly of Nacional, Santos Laguna and Al-Gharafa – was only brought in as Mark Warburton’s replacement in March, but his seven-month stay at Ibrox is over.

In truth, Caixinha never quite won the hearts of Rangers fans. His heavy spending over the summer has led to little success, his penchant for talking too much riled up many, and he also lost too many big games, particularly against Celtic, the Europa League qualifier with Progres Niederkorn, and Sunday’s Scottish League Cup semi-final against Motherwell.
Rangers must now search for another new manager, and ex-midfielder Joey Barton has taken to Twitter this evening in order to have his say on the situation.
Barton, who lasted just a handful of games with Rangers last season before being released by manager Mark Warburton, believes there are huge problems at Ibrox, and the club needs a complete overhaul.

Barton added that it’s sad to see such ‘cultural and philosophical issues’ at Rangers, and called on the club to appoint a British manager who understands Scottish football.
Barton also named Rangers legend Graeme Souness as one man who could take the job, though given that he hasn’t been in management since 2006, that seems unlikely right now.
