Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has not found the back of the net for the Ibrox side in his last five games.

According to a report from The Scotsman back in September, Rangers summer signing Alfredo Morelos was being chased by five English clubs after a blistering start to life at Ibrox.

In the three games preceding the report, the Colombian had scored five times, and had taken his tally in all competitions for the Gers to eight.

Alfredo Morelos of Rangers gets taken down by Peter Hartley of Motherwell during the Betfred Cup Semi Final at Hampden Park on October 22, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Since then however, Morelos has failed to find the back of the net for Pedro Caixinha’s men, with that run now stretching to five games following the Scottish League Cup semi-final at the weekend.

The 21-year-old would, of course, be forgiven the odd dry spell in front of goal given his age and the fact that he is new to the Scottish Premiership, and some of his performances have still been impressive during that recent run.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Hibernian at Ibrox Stadium on August 12, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

But with Caixinha not exactly blessed with an abundance of strikers, the Portuguese surely needs Morelos to end his drought as soon as possible.

Kenny Miller’s future appears to be up in the air, while Eduardo Herrera has only shown a few bright glimpses since his summer arrival, which arguably ramps the pressure up on Morelos to perform when the Gers host Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

The Gers’ form in the top flight is likely to be scrutinised more than it has been at any stage throughout the campaign now that the competition is their sole focus for the time-being, and having an in-form Morelos leading the line will undoubtedly boost their chances of answering their critics in emphatic fashion.

The striker now needs to forget his recent struggles and prove why he appeared to be one of the hottest properties in Scottish football just a month ago.
