Nathan Patterson fancies returning to Rangers one day having only left the club to join Everton in January of this year.

They say to never go back but Rangers seem to have a certain pull.

The Gers currently have Allan McGregor and Steven Davis in their squad, two players who left the club a long time ago before returning.

Barry Ferguson, Kris Boyd, Kyle Lafferty and even Danny Wilson are among those to have had more than one spell at Ibrox.

Maybe right back Patterson is now angling to join that list.

Rangers sold Patterson to Everton in January of this year, securing a deal that could be worth up to £16million.

Patterson has now made eight Premier League starts for Everton this season and will be looking to nail down his Everton spot.

Nathan Patterson fancies returning to Rangers one day

Patterson still has plenty of developing to do at Everton but he still has Rangers on his mind.

The 21-year-old has told the Daily Record that he would absolutely ‘love’ to re-sign for Rangers and finish his career at Ibrox.

Patterson wants to play in front of the Rangers fans again and ultimately feels that there is unfinished business for him in Glasgow.

The Everton ace wants to win more league titles for Rangers and he was even in Seville to watch the Europa League final defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt in May.

Patterson clearly still loves Rangers and whilst he is focused on his progress at Everton, he is still thinking about Rangers.

“Of course I’d love to go back to Rangers later on in my career and finish what I started,” said Patterson. “It would be great to finish at Ibrox. It’s where I started off my career so it would be nice to play in front of those fans again.”

“There’s a bit of unfinished business for me. I was involved in 55 but I’d like to go back and get more titles. I went to Seville last summer for the Europa League Final and hoped they could win it but they just fell short. Just seeing Rangers in a European final again was massive, though, and it shows how far the club has come. But right now, I’m really happy at Everton and want to continue to progress here and I’m fully focused on doing well at Goodison,” he added.

Patterson heading back to Rangers is surely a long way off though.

The Scotland international is only 21 and it may take until his late 20’s or early 30’s for a move back to Ibrox to be on the cards.

We may be talking about 10 years until Patterson to Rangers is a real possibility but when the time comes, the right back would seemingly jump at the chance.
