Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have been heavily linked with a loan move for the big striker.

According to The Daily Record, Rangers could receive around an £800,000 windfall from Martyn Waghorn.

The former Rangers striker is close to joining Derby County in an £8 million deal, which would entitle the Gers to 10% of that fee after a sell-on clause was included in his move to Ipswich Town last summer.

That is a tidy sum for the Ibrox side and should Steven Gerrard put it toward Dominic Solanke?

The Liverpool striker has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers this summer and The Scottish Sun reported two weeks ago that a loan move was ‘still a possibility’.

However, the 20-year-old is earning around £20,000 per week at Anfield according to Spotrac, which works at around £1 million-a-year in salary, but the Scottish Premiership side could cover a whopping 80% of that with the Waghorn money.

Gerrard probably needs more firepower this summer, with Alfredo Morelos and the unproven Umar Sadiq representing his only striking options, so perhaps the money received from Waghorn could be used toward bringing in the big Liverpool ace.
