Motherwell’s Louis Moult certainly caught the eye on Sunday as he downed Rangers with a brace.

Pedro Caixinha must have been ruing his failed attempts to lure Motherwell hotshot Louis Moult to Rangers this summer after the powerful forward scored twice against the Gers on Sunday.
The 23-year-old striker scored the only goals of the Betfred Cup semi-final, as The Well earned a 2-0 win at Hampden Park in a hotly-contested affair that saw both managers sent to the stands.
The Scottish Sun claimed back in September that Rangers had held a summer interest in Moult, with the report also stating that Motherwell’s number nine had rejected a contract offer from Stephen Robinson’s side.
Pedro Caixinha.
But Caixinha decided to bring Mexico international Eduardo Herrera to Glasgow instead of Moult; a decision which has yet to prove beneficial for the 54-time Scottish champions.
Herrera, 29, has managed just one Scottish Premiership goal all season, coming under constant criticism with his lack of pace and work ethic frustrating the Gers’ expectant fans.
In spark contract, Moult has continued his exceptional 2016-17 form this time around by firing 11 goals in 15 games for The Well, as well as showing a creative side to his game with three assists.
Eduardo Herrera.
His form is likely to spark plenty of interest in the coming months, with his contract at Fir Park expiring in June 2018.
Adding Moult to Rangers’ strikeforce would give Caixinha the kind of attacking quality required in closing the gap between themselves and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
Caixinha must admit that he was wrong to overlook Moult and sign Herrera, and look to throw the former Santos Laguna striker on the scrapheap in order to fund a move for one of the Scottish Premiership’s hottest properties.
