Celtic’s Scott Brown has escaped suspension for the Rangers game.

Celtic’s Scott Brown has escaped suspension for an alleged elbow at the weekend.
If Brown was judged guilty of violent conduct then he would have been handed a three game ban.
This would have ruled Brown out of Celtic’s game with Rangers on September 2.
Brown has haunted Rangers in recent seasons, even earlier this year, especially so at Hampden Park in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Rangers would have a more comfortable afternoon against Celtic without Brown, but that would be a short term gain.
Steven Gerrard’s side have had an overhaul since he took over as manager, with numerous personnel changes.
They are picking up confidence, while Celtic are experiencing a few road bumps after a difficult transfer window and testing results.
Rangers need a true test when they face Celtic, and this means playing against a team with Scott Brown in it.
Without him, Celtic have a ready made excuse for a loss. Beat a Celtic side with Brown in it, and Rangers can truly claim to be back.
This should be a motivating factor for the Gers, and they should not give another thought to Brown escaping a potential ban.
