Chelsea will reportedly loan Celtic’s summer target Charly Musonda out in January – but will Rangers throw their hat into the ring?

Flash forward to the present day and another Instagram update has now cast doubt on Musonda’s future. The Standard report that Chelsea have reprimanded the 21-year-old after he seemingly hit out at the club on social media due to a lack of opportunities.
The Premier League champions are now reportedly ready to loan Musonda out once again in January – because they do not feel he is in a position to fight Eden Hazard, Willian, Pedro and co for a place in Antonio Conte’s squad.

Whether Celtic renew their interest in a player Brendan Rodgers was willing to pay £5 million for over the summer, per The Daily Record, will be on the lips of supporters over the next few months, therefore.
Old Firm battle?
But perhaps Celtic should not be the only Glasgow-based giant to express an interest in a player who scored on his full Chelsea debut against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup last month.
Rangers are still on the lookout for a new left winger after struggling to fill the role convincingly so far this season. The Scottish Sun reports that they are hoping to finally land Hearts’ Jamie Walker after having a number of bids rejected in the summer while the Daily Record has linked them with a move for St Mirren’s former Rangers’ youth star Lewis Morgan (below).

Musonda, however, is on another level entirely to two of Scotland’s most exciting youngsters. The Belgian dazzled during a sensational loan spell at Real Betis in 2015/16, suggesting that he was indeed ready for regular senior football.
Rangers would be pulling off one hell of a coup, then, and it doesn’t hurt to ask Chelsea for a short-term deal. Signing Musonda could be a turning point in a season that has disappointed so far.
