Rangers were heavily linked with Mostafa Mohamed at one point, but any lingering hopes of bringing him to Ibrox appear to be ending.
The Gers are regularly linked with a number of players from all over the world – and Mohamed emerged as a start in 2020.
Former Zamalek boss Milutin Stredojevic suggested that Steven Gerrard was ‘very keen’ to sign Mohamed.
Stredojevic claimed that Gerrard even called him personally to ask about a deal for the striker.
Rangers didn’t manage to get a deal done – and may have missed their window to sign the Egyptian hitman.
After 20 goals in 43 games during the 2019-20 season, Mohamed finally landed a big move away in February 2021 as he headed to Galatasaray.
The Turkish side struck an 18-month loan deal, and Mohamed made an instant impact with nine goals in 17 games to end last season.

Mohamed, 23, hasn’t quite hit those same heights this season. With just two goals and one assist in 14 games, the striker has taken a step back.
Now though, Fanatik report that Galatasaray have decided to turn Mohamed’s move permanent.
They’re paying around £3million to turn that move permanent, despite question marks over his attitude.
Mohamed looks set for a long-term future in Turkey, and Rangers’ lingering hopes may now be over for the foreseeable future.
