Rangers are launching a third bid for Morgan Whittaker as Swansea City boss Russell Martin claims he can’t see how a deal gets done.
The Gers have been chasing new signings this month and Whittaker has emerged as a top target.
Wales Online claimed last week that Rangers had failed with a move for Whittaker, which was later claimed to be worth £900,000 by The Scottish Sun.
The Daily Record added that Rangers then offered around £1.5million for Whittaker, which featured a number of add-ons – and Swansea rejected it again.
There is now a new claim from the Daily Record, as they suggest that Rangers are set to make a third offer for Whittaker imminently.
Michael Beale and co aren’t giving up and will hope it’s a case of third time lucky as they attempt to lure Whittaker to Ibrox.

Russell Martin doubts Morgan Whittaker to Rangers move
Rangers may have real hope of a deal for Whittaker but Swansea boss Russell Martin – a former Rangers defender – doesn’t think a deal will happen.
As quoted by Football Scotland, Martin has suggested that he ‘can’t see how a deal gets done’ because the two clubs are just so far apart in their valuations of Whittaker.
Martin even added that Whittaker asked to be left out of Swansea’s game against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon.
Whittaker didn’t feel in the right frame of mind to play and asked to be left out, which was a little disappointing for Martin.
“Nothing has changed. We have not received any new bids and nothing has changed except for Morgan’s frame of mind,” said Martin. “We had agreed he was going to be in the squad and then Morgan told me just after my press conference on Friday that he wasn’t in the right frame of mind to be in the squad or to travel. It is disappointing, we’d have loved for him to be involved today. I think he could have made a difference, it would have been a good game for him to come on and be involved in.”
“I can’t see how a deal gets done with how far apart the two clubs are. We have to respect his frame of mind. I am sure there will be loads of people who will be upset by it and frustrated by it, but he’s a young man. It’s frustrating as it just means it is longer until we can get him on the pitch with us. It’ll be 10 days and then the window will be closed and we can look at getting him on the pitch,” he added.
This does feel like Swansea are playing with Rangers a little here.
Whittaker can’t play for three clubs this season; he has already featured for Plymouth Argyle during a superb loan spell and one appearance for Swansea would rule out a move to Rangers this month.
Martin seems to be talking up the prospect of getting Whittaker onto the pitch but Swansea will be very aware of scuppering a sale to Rangers.
Hailed as ‘brilliant’ by Plymouth boss Steven Schumacher, Whittaker has real potential at 22 and impressed Plymouth with nine goals and seven assists.
A versatile attacking threat, Whittaker could provide a real boost for Rangers and they will hope that this third offer gets the deal done.
