The Daily Record had reported earlier in the transfer window that Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha was keen to bring Agra to Ibrox.

Agra signed for Benfica on a permanent deal from Nacional earlier this transfer window but for Portuguese champions immediately made her available for loan.

Agra, 25, scored three goals and provided five assists last season in the Primeira Liga.

Rangers did secure a deal for young Benfica winger Dalcio, but he has not made a positive early impression, with fans dispirited by his poor performance against Progres Niederkorn as they crashed out of the Europa League.

Agra is four years older and more experienced – with more than 140 top flight games in Portugal under his belt – and could have been a better option for the Gers.
