The young winger is a regular goalscorer for Rangers under-20 side, and was on target this week for the under-19s.
Atakayi netted in the final of a youth tournament in the Czech Republic, as Rangers won the final 4-0 against MSK Zilina.
The teenager has been threatening to break through for a year now, and Middleton’s early success for the Rangers first team offers a pathway for Atakayi, who plays on the opposite flank.
The 19-year-old has a chance to be a big player for Rangers, and Steven Gerrard will surely be paying attention to his development.
