Niko Kranjcar has not played for Glasgow Rangers since October after sustaining a serious knee injury.

Niko Kranjcar has suggested that the thought of retiring did cross his mind after he sustained his knee injury that will keep him sidelined for the rest of the season, but had a positive message for Rangers fans, The Scottish Sun reports.

The 32-year-old was one of Mark Warburton’s many summer signings, but perhaps only one acquisition arrived at Ibrox under more pressure to hit the ground running given the career he has enjoyed.

And while he initially looked set to be a flop, his most recent performances were incredibly encouraging and suggested that the former Tottenham man still had the quality to help Rangers move back towards the Scottish Premiership summit.

However, Kranjcar was dealt a cruel blow as a training ground incident saw the Croatian rupture his cruciate ligament, meaning that his appearance against Inverness in October will remain his last for the campaign.

But after reflecting that the injury had left him contemplating whether he would return to professional football, he insisted that Ibrox supporters have not seen the last of him.

“Of course it would have been easy for me to end my career, because this is the most serious injury I have ever had as a footballer,” he said, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

“But I am hoping I will be back within six months.

“And I am convinced that, if I continue my rehabilitation, I still have a few good seasons left for me at Rangers.”

Having been written off by many before after making a slow start to life with the Gers, Kranjcar will surely be motivating himself to make the impact he threatened to make before his injury by telling himself that many are probably writing him off again.
