Rangers midfielder Niko Kranjcar seems to have been impressed with Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic.
Simunovic is 22 years of age and operates as a centre-back, and he is an important player for the Bhoys.
The Croatia Under-21 international has played in 41 matches in all competitions for Celtic so far in his career, scoring two goals in the process.
The former Dinamo Zagreb defender joined the Glasgow giants on deadline day in 2015 and was Ronny Deila’s eighth signing of the summer, as stated on the club’s official website.
Rangers midfielder Kranjcar, who switched to the Gers in the summer of 2016, has backed his compatriot to become a top player for the Croatia national football team.
“I see Jozo often,” Kranjcar told The Scottish Sun about Simunovic. “He’s a great guy and a great player.
“Personally, I didn’t know Jozo when he was at Dinamo, but when I saw him in Scotland I must admit I was pleasantly surprised how good he was.
“He is definitely a boy who is going to have a top career. He’s had his problems with injuries, but he’s got over them and is starting to mature into a really top, top defender.
“Jozo has proved what a good player he is both in the Scottish League and in the Champions League.
“If he continues to develop, he has the potential to be a top defender for the Croatian national team for many years to come.”
Both Celtic and Rangers are in action in the Sottish Premiership this evening. While Brendan Rodgers’s side will take on Partick Thistle at Celtic Park, the Gers will lock horns with Kilmarnock away from home at Rugby Park.
