Glasgow Rangers should look to bring Josh Morris to Ibrox this summer after his stunning season at Glanford Park.

Rangers fans may have ultimately had one eye on Scunthorpe United’s recent results against Rochdale and Bradford City due to Matt Crooks securing the winning goal in both games, but perhaps it should be his current teammate that the Gers hierarchy should be watching closely.

Crooks may have done a decent job of sending a message to new Gers boss Pedro Caixinha with his contributions since moving to Glanford Park on loan, but his performances have been completely overshadowed by the form of teammate Josh Morris.

Morris has been sensational for the Iron this season, scoring 19 times and contributing 11 assists in League One for a side that is facing a battle trying to hold onto its play-off spot in the division.

Meanwhile, no Rangers player has scored more than six Scottish Premiership goals this season, while Lee Wallace is their most prolific assist-maker with five in the top flight.

Morris may not quite be able to replicate that kind of record if he was to move to Ibrox, but achieving anything like the return he has managed this season would make him a brilliant addition, and one that would give the Gers some much-needed creativity in the middle of the park, especially with Emerson Hyndman and Jon Toral currently only on loan until the end of the season.

On what may perhaps be a fairly limited budget this summer, Rangers would surely do incredibly well to find a player who should, at 25 years of age, be coming into his prime with a better goals and assists record than Morris, even if he is not playing at as high a level as some fans would want.

Therefore, approaching Scunthorpe – from whom, Celtic signed Gary Hooper, who went on to make a major impact at Parkhead, in 2010 – and trying to bring Morris to Ibrox may prove to be a brilliant gamble.
