Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty has shared Steven Gerrard’s message to the Ibrox squad.

Rangers midfielder Greg Docherty has told STV that new manager Steven Gerrard has criticised his players for not ‘producing what Rangers players should be producing’.
The Gers went into the 2017-18 campaign with some semblance of optimism under Pedro Caixinha, but the Portuguese boss was sacked in October after poor resuls.
A mixed bag under Graeme Murty ended with Rangers finishing third in the Scottish Premiership, but a massive 12 points behind champions Celtic.

Murty was replaced with Steven Gerrard, and the former Liverpool man has a huge task on his hands in his first managerial job, as he will be expected to push Celtic a lot closer.
With 4-0 and 5-0 defeats to Celtic, Rangers were embarrassed by their Old Firm rivals, whilst home displays were also a disappointment, with Ibrox defeats to Hibernian, St Johnstone, Hamilton, Kilmarnock and Motherwell over the course of the season.
Last term simply wasn’t good enough for Rangers, and as if the players weren’t already aware of that, new boss Gerrard has hammered home the point.

Midfielder Greg Docherty – a January signing from Hamilton – has told STV that he is ready to embrace a fresh start, but manager Gerrard has told the Rangers squad they weren’t producing enough for a Rangers team.
“It’s a fresh start for us all this week but we’ve got to be ready to go come Europa League,” said Docherty. “Last year wasn’t good enough. As players we know that and [the manager] just reiterated that we aren’t producing what Rangers players should be producing. We know that and we let the club down so it’s up to us to go and rebuild that now,” he added.
