Carlos Pena arrived at Rangers in the summer transfer window amid much expectation, but the Mexico international midfielder has failed to perform well.
The 27-year-old has had fitness issues, and his overall performances for Rangers so far this season have been disappointing.
There have been criticisms of the 27-year-old, who cost the Scottish Premiership giants £2.2 million in transfer fees when he joined from Mexican outfit Guadalajara in the summer transfer window, as reported by Sky Sports.
Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has suggested to The Daily Record that Pena gets criticised because he is not Scottish.
Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton, who now works as a pundit for BBC Sport and BT Sport, does not think that that is the case, stating on social networking site Twitter that Pena has been criticised because he has been “rotten” so far.
Pena’s performances this season have been far from impressive, and the 27-year-old midfielder does need to improve.
There is no doubt that the Mexican has quality, and perhaps in the coming weeks and months the Rangers fans will see him play to the best of his abilities.
