Andy Halliday has been slightly closer to the periphery of the Glasgow Rangers squad in the Ibrox side’s last two games.

Andy Halliday has insisted that he does not mind if he is more of a peripheral figure in Pedro Caixinha’s squad as long as Rangers keep winning, the Evening Times reports.
Halliday has been used fairly regularly throughout the campaign, but has started neither of the Gers’ last two games, instead coming on when the fixtures have reached the final 10 minutes.
But in comments that will be extremely encouraging for Caixinha and the Ibrox faithful to hear, the 25-year-old has suggested that he is willing to be more of a fringe player if it is what is best for the team.
“The club comes first for me and I am happy to sit back as long as we are getting results. That is all that matters to me,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.
“It has been two positive results in a row now. We have spoken a lot about consistency this season and that is something that we have not had so far.”
Although Halliday may not get into all Rangers fans’ strongest XI’s currently, his presence in the squad is arguably important if he maintains this current attitude.

The Gers squad need to show plenty of unity and togetherness if they hope to close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership in the near future, and having a player suggest that he is prepared to play a much less prominent role for the good of the team is a promising sign.
And Caixinha will be hoping that Halliday’s comments encourage the other players currently on the fringes to take a similar outlook as it may certainly boost their chances of putting a squad together capable of pushing back towards the summit.
