Rangers coach Michael Beale has been eyed up by Cardiff City as a potential candidate to replace Mick McCarthy as manager.

That’s according to The Telegraph, who claim that the Bluebirds have been looking towards Beale as a possible appointment.

McCarthy lost his job last month, and Cardiff have yet to formalise an appointment to replace him.

Steve Morison is Cardiff’s current caretaker manager and has a very real shot at landing the job on a full-time basis.

It’s now claimed that Beale is one target for Cardiff as his Rangers future is now thrown into serious doubt.

Beale to leave Rangers for Cardiff… or even Aston Villa?

Beale is a highly-regarded coach and one of the key cogs in Steven Gerrard’s setup at Rangers.

Formerly of Chelsea, Liverpool and even Sao Paulo, Beale has built up quite the reputation for himself over the years.

Beale will surely have a stab at management on his own one day, and at just 41 he has plenty of time to do it.

Cardiff offer a great chance for Beale, but there is another option that isn’t staying at Rangers.

That same Telegraph report states that Gerrard wants to take Beale to Aston Villa if he replaces Dean Smith.

Aston Villa are pushing to land Gerrard this week having sacked Smith on Sunday, and Beale is one man Gerrard wants to take with him.

So what does Beale do now? Stay at Rangers or follow Gerrard to continue his coaching career, or head to Cardiff to be a manager?

That’s a tough one, but having been settled and secure a week ago, Beale’s future at Rangers suddenly looks murky.
