Aston Villa are nearing a deal for Manchester City’s Douglas Luiz.

Aston Villa’s summer spending spree continues, with two more signings expected to arrive at Villa Park in the coming days.
Loanees Anwar El Ghazi, Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings have all signed permanently, whilst Ezri Konsa, Matt Targett, Jota and Wesley have arrived too.
BBC Sport now claim that Stade Reims defender Bjorn Engels is nearing a £7million move, whilst Manchester City’s Douglas Luiz will join for £15million pending a work permit.
Luiz is a particularly exciting addition, as he has been a regular for Brazil at Under-20 and Under-23 levels, and City have been holding high hopes for him.
The 21-year-old has so far failed to qualify for a work permit, meaning he’s spent the last two seasons on loan at Girona in Spain, but could now join Villa.
Luiz will occupy the holding midfield role that Villa have been seeking to strengthen, possessing great passing, technical ability and bite in the tackle.

One man who knows all about Luiz is Rangers coach Michael Beale, as he went over to coach in Brazil with Sao Paulo, so saw Luiz in action for Vasco da Gama.
Beale has taken to Twitter to praise the move, claiming Villa will be making a ‘fantastic’ signing by landing Luiz, and hearing his analysis may just leave Villa fans hugely excited.
