Rangers wanted to sign Liverpool left back Adam Lewis last summer.

Rangers saw Borna Barisic struggle again on Sunday, as he turned in a disappointing performance in the 2-1 win at Kilmarnock.
The Gers saw Barisic underwhelm last season, but were seemingly prepared to give him another chance to shine this term, believing he could improve having one year of Scottish football experience under his belt.
Croatian international Barisic didn’t impress again on Sunday though, and Steven Gerrard may now have to consider bringing in another left back before this month’s transfer deadline.
One player Gerrard wanted last summer was Liverpool’s Adam Lewis, with Goal reporting that Rangers had made enquiries about taking him to Ibrox on loan.
Gerrard coached the 19-year-old at Liverpool before heading to Rangers, and The Sun (04/08, p67) report that the Reds are now finally willing to let him go out on loan.
Despite seeing Alberto Moreno this summer, Liverpool will let Lewis go out for first-team football, seemingly viewing James Milner as potential left back cover for Andrew Robertson.

That gives Rangers a new chance to land lewis, with Gerrard seemingly keen in the past. He’s been linked with other left backs this summer amid concerns about Barisic, and Lewis should be be back on the radar.
Rangers have failed to get Ryan Kent back from Liverpool, but after seeing Kent’s development under Gerrard, they should be open to sending Lewis to Ibrox now – and leave Barisic sweating over his Ibrox future.
