Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers signed Matt Crooks from Accrington Stanley.
Glasgow Rangers new boy Matt Crooks has told the Daily Record that he does not care where he plays at Ibrox – just as long as he is in the team.
Crooks signed for Rangers from Accrington Stanley at the start of the summer transfer window, and he is taking a major step up by moving to the Glasgow side.
However, the 22-year-old is hoping that he is given a chance by Mark Warburton – and he does not mind what position he is selected to start in.
“At Accrington we played 4-2-3-1. Josh was in the three and I was in the two behind, but I’d more licence to roam forward,” Crooks said.
“Given my height people put me down as a holding midfielder, but I do like the attacking side of the game. I try to get forward to create and score. As long as I’m playing I’m happy.
“Playing for Rangers is a big responsibility, but I thrive on challenges.”
Crooks is one of eight signings that Rangers have made so far this summer.
The midfielder arrived at the same time as Josh Windass, after Rangers agreed a double deal to sign them both last January.
Crooks impressed in League Two last season, where he was a key player for Stanley.
The technically adept midfielder made 35 appearances last season, and he scored eight times for Jon Coleman’s side.
Crooks’ time at Rangers so far has been disrupted due to injury, but he should be back in training by the time Warburton’s men’s Scottish Premiership campaign starts.
