Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers sold Daniel Candeias earlier this week.

Mark Allen has told Rangers’ official website that he and Steven Gerrard ‘reluctantly’ allowed the ‘unbelievable’ Daniel Candeias to quit the Ibrox side.
The Gers announced on Monday that the 30-year-old had joined Turkish outfit Genclerbirligi on a two-year contract.
Candeias had been a first-team regular for Rangers since joining under Pedro Caixinha two years ago, and played his role in helping Gerrard’s side reaching the group stage of the Europa League last season.
But Sheyi Ojo’s move to Ibrox prompted suggestions that he would be more or less a squad player this season, and Allen has revealed to Rangers’ official website that that was the Portuguese star’s concern when asking to leave.
He said: “Reluctantly’ is probably the best word to use. Danny came to speak to the manager and myself about an opportunity and he made it clear he didn’t want to be a squad player.
“I think Danny just felt with where he was that he wanted an opportunity to go and speak. Danny has been an unbelievable servant to us and he has worked hard and worked well in the time he has been here.”
You can’t blame Candeias and he’s right, Ojo’s arrival at Rangers would have greatly impacted on his playing time.
Gerrard has said that everybody is a squad player this season and although there is an element of truth to that, given the strength in depth he has at his disposal, it’s Ojo’s shirt to lose.
And by virtue of the fact that he’s enjoyed a fast-and-furious start to life in Glasgow, the former Benfica man would’ve been stuck on the bench for large spells.
