Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wants the Gers to challenge Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title next season.

Liverpool legend Gerrard has been appointed the new Rangers manager, and the former England international midfielder will take charge of the first team at Ibrox from next month.
Rangers’ bitter Old Firm rivals, Celtic, have won the Scottish Premiership title for the past seven seasons.
It has been pretty much a one-horse race in Scotland for a number of years, and Liverpool legend Gerrard wants to change that now that he will be in charge of the Gers.

Gerrard told The Scottish Sun: “Celtic have had it their own way for far too long. This is a massive opportunity for myself and Gary McAllister to go to a huge football club and try to improve things in Glasgow. We go up and we will give it our best.”

Ominous for Celtic?
Rangers are quite a bit far behind Celtic at this moment time, and that is reflected in the point-difference, but the arrival of Gerrard could change that.
The former Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder will arrive at Rangers with fresh ideas and a different perspective, and if he is allowed to make the signings that he wants and is backed in the summer transfer window, then the Gers could give Celtic a run for their money next season.
