Rangers host Aberdeen in a Scottish Cup replay on Tuesday night.

Steven Gerrard has urged Rangers ace, Alfredo Morelos, to prove his worth against Aberdeen in their Scottish Cup replay on Tuesday night as he doesn’t want a repeat of a Hampden ban for his player.

The Gers boss honesty admitted that ‘no one’ was ‘more frustrated’ than Morelos when he had to miss the semi-final of their Scottish League Cup semi-final against the Dons earlier on in the season because of suspension.

Throughout this campaign, Morelos has proven to be a bit of a hot head, getting sent off on four occasions in all competitions, including against Tuesday nights opponents [transermarkt].

Speaking ahead of that match, Gerrard shares his brutally honest views on his player and backed him to fire his team into the last four, but he wants him available for that match if they were to progress.

“There was no one more frustrated in the last semi-final than Alfredo as he was sitting in the stand,” said Gerrard, as quoted by the Scotsman. “Not being able to help his team-mates and the club he loves.

“He loves the supporters here and that’s got to be in his thinking on Tuesday. What do the fans want to see from Alfredo’s performance? They want to see the best individual performance on the pitch, they want him to score, to be the matchwinner.

“We won’t tell him to hold it back. He just needs to focus on the football and not get involved in any other stuff. He just needs to play fair and try and bring his ‘A’ game on to the pitch. That’s all he needs to do.”

There is no doubt that Morelos has been a key figure for Gerrard throughout this campaign and his teammates have badly missed him when he’s had to serve a suspension.

Added with that, Gerrard, who is in his first season in charge of Ibrox, will want his best players out on the pitch as he searches for his first piece of silverware in Scotland.

Celtic, who will meet the winner of the Rangers and Aberdeen winner, are in search of a treble-treble at the end of the season.

They already have the Scottish League Cup wrapped up and are eight points clear in the Premiership. Therefore, from a realistic standpoint, the only thing standing in their way is the Scottish Cup.
