The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, previously hinted minor tweaks could be on the cards at Ibrox.

The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has reiterated that he will speak to both Ovie Ejaria and Liverpool about the loanee’s future on Friday.

Ejaria was left out of the Rangers squad that travelled to Rapid Vienna earlier this week, with Gerrard later admitting the on-loan midfielder is “unsettled” at Ibrox.

Speaking via Rangers’ official Youtube channel earlier, the former Liverpool Under-18s boss revealed it is an issue of which both he and his former club have only recently learned, adding: “I will be speaking to Ovie today and I will also be speaking to Liverpool today. We’ll discuss Ovie Ejaria and decide what’s best for the player.”

Ejaria is on a season-long deal at Rangers, which could be terminated with the permission of all three parties in January.

Should the 21-year-old indeed leave Ibrox early, it is likely to affect Gerrard’s winter recruitment plans.

But when questioned about the upcoming transfer window, the 38-year-old maintained that only minor alternations will be made, if any at all.

Asked if recent results had changed his mind at all, he replied: “In terms of volume? I’m not sure on that. I think it’s quite clear though, moving forward in the big picture, if we’ve got ambitions to compete on a European level, get out of Europa League groups, push to challenge Celtic, of course, it’s important that we always try to identify quality players that can help move us forward to the next level.

“We won’t be making wholesale changes. We don’t need to.”

Steven Gerrard shakes hands with Dave King as he is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

On the support he is likely to receive from the Rangers board, Gerrard added: “They been very supportive so far, but I think the facts are we haven’t spent a huge amount of money.

“In terms of the amount of money that’s available, I’m not too sure, I can’t really comment on that.”

Ejaria recently removed all mention of Rangers FC from his social media accounts.
