Rangers manager Steven Gerrard says he wants hungry players

Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was not pleased with the Ibrox players’ performance against Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic in the Old Firm derby.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has told The Daily Mail that he will not have players in his Ibrox side who are not hungry.

The former Liverpool midfielder, who was recently appointed the Rangers manager and will take charge of the Ibrox club from next month, made the comments while referring to the Gers’ recent defeat to Celtic.

The Gers were hammered 5-0 by Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers manager Gerrard has made it clear that he will not tolerate players who are not hungry.

Gerrard told The Daily Mail regarding Rangers’ 5-0 defeat to Celtic: “I can’t have that. That’s got to stop. That’s got to stop now. If you are not a hungry footballer, you shouldn’t be at Rangers football club. Simple as that.”

Simple but effective

Gerrard’s message to the current Rangers players and those hoping to join the Gers in the summer transfer window is simple but effective.

The way Rangers performed against Celtic was hugely disappointing and frustrating, and the fans will certainly expect more than the players under Gerrard next season.

A number of players in the current Rangers team are underperforming, and it is clear from Gerrard’s comments that they will have to step up if they want to remain at Ibrox next season.
