If reports are true then Steven Gerrard has rejected the chance to manage in the Premier League and specifically Newcastle United.

Rangers Manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the pre season friendly match between Rangers and Oxford United at Ibrox Stadium on July 07, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

It has been a pretty eventful first 12 months in management for Steven Gerrard, who has proven at Rangers that he has been able to transcend into management and unfamiliar territory in a pretty comfortable manner.

Despite not winning a trophy last season, Gerrard’s style of play, management and leadership skills haven’t gone unnoticed in Glasgow.

The Mirror have recently claimed that Gerrard has turned down any advances from Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley, who is looking for a new face to take the St James’ Park helm.

If Gerrard has turned down this opportunity then it proves his loyalty to the club, his desire to win the Scottish Premiership title, as it should also send a message to his players.

Whilst the Premiership may not get recognition for its qualities, playing for a club like Rangers has done and will continue to do so.

Therefore, if a Gers player in this upcoming season finds himself producing the goods and attracting interest from elsewhere then Gerrard has shown the way for them.

He hasn’t just shown loyalty to the supporters by seemingly turning down a job in the Premier League, but he has also shown loyalty to his players.

As a result, it the Light Blues do perform as expected next season and lift some silverware then his star men should stick to the cause and write themselves into legendary status at Ibrox because that’s what Gerrard is trying to build.
