Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has suggested to The Scottish Sun that Jordan Jones will have learnt a lesson from his action against Celtic in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox.

Jones made a late challenge on Celtic’s Moritz Bauer during the Old Firm derby at Ibrox, which Rangers lost 2-0.

The Northern Ireland international winger was shown a straight red card, with BBC Sport later reporting that he left Ibrox on crutches after the game.

According to The Scottish Sun, the Northern Ireland international winger suffered a knee injury and is unlikely to be back in action before November.

Rangers manager Gerrard believes that the 24-year-old will have learnt his lesson, as he will have to watch his team play from the sidelines now.

Gerrard told The Scottish Sun: “He will learn from it because he’s going to have to watch games. Players don’t like being injured. They want to go out and play.

“There’s nothing worse than sitting in the stands, especially when Feyenoord are coming to town and you have a Europa League run along with big domestic fixtures when every point is important.

“Jordan is a Rangers fan and I know he’ll be desperate to be involved, so I’m sure he will learn from it.”
