Rangers are seeking to appoint a new manager this week, but Giovanni van Bronckhorst may not be as nailed-on as first thought.
The Gers lost Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa last week and are now attempting to find a replacement in this international break.
Talks have been held with Van Bronckhorst, who seems pretty ideal for the Rangers job.
The Dutchman used to play for Rangers, has a league title win as a manager to his name with Feyenoord as well as winning two domestic cups.
Currently out of work, the 46-year-old can head to Rangers for free – but the Gers seemingly have other irons in the fire.
A source inside Ibrox has told The Daily Mail that Rangers are in talks with a number of candidates who haven’t been mentioned in the media.
The likes of Van Bronckhorst, Alexander Blessin, Kjetil Knutsen and Frank Lampard have all been linked with the job.
It does though sound like Rangers have other targets in mind and could spring a surprise appointment.
We would still back Van Bronckhorst for the job, but Rangers may yet have a shock in store for the Ibrox faithful.
