Marcel Keizer is reportedly keen on becoming the next Rangers manager.

Ajax's coach Marcel Keizer delivers a press conference in Amsterdam on December 8, 2017 ahead of his team's Dutch premier league football match against PSV.

Rangers are in action this afternoon as they take on Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park, with Graeme Murty handed another huge opportunity to stake his claim for the job.

The interim Gers boss has been in charge since October, and whilst he has impressed in 2018, the former Scotland defender may not land the job on a permanent basis.

Rangers will surely be open to finding a manager externally this summer, and The Scottish Sun claim that Dutchman Marcel Keizer is keen on holding talks over the job this summer.

Ajax's coach Marcel Keizer leaves after delivering a press conference in Amsterdam on December 8, 2017 ahead of his team's Dutch premier league football match against PSV.

Keizer, 49, may not be a familiar name for many Rangers fans, but here are five facts about the man pursuing a move to Ibrox…

1. Keizer started his playing career with Ajax, but after struggling to break through with the Amsterdam giants, he made his name with Cambuur, De Graafschap and FC Emmen before retiring in 2002.

2. After turning his hand to coaching, Keizer had spells in the lower reaches of Dutch football with Argon, VVSB and Telstar, before then returning to former clubs FC Emmen and Cambuur.

3. Keizer’s time at Cambuur didn’t last long despite his hero status there, as he moved on to manage Jong Ajax, effectively the Ajax ‘B’ side playing in the second tier of Dutch football.

4. When Peter Bosz left Ajax for Borussia Dortmund last summer, Keizer was promoted to first-team boss at the Amsterdam Arena, but was sacked in December 2017.

5. Keizer won 14 of his 24 games in charge of Ajax, losing just six of them, and one of those defeats came on penalties, though crashing out of qualification for both the Champions League and Europa League ultimately damaged him early into his reign.
