Jose Peseiro has suddenly been linked with a move to Rangers.
Jose Peseiro
Having seen former manager Mark Warburton leave the club earlier this month, Rangers are searching for a new boss – and some interesting names are being linked with the job.
Whilst managers with links to the club, such as Alex McLeish, Frank de Boer and Derek McInnes have been touted for the job, a new name has entered the frame with bookmakers.
As seen on Oddschecker, Jose Peseiro has been moving into the frontrunners for the job, though he has now drifted back out to around 33/1.
Certainly a left-field suggestion, Peseiro has enjoyed a lengthy career in management, and whilst Rangers fans may not be too familiar with him, here is a background on the man being loosely linked with a move to Ibrox.
After a career which saw him play no higher than the second division in his native Portugal, Peseiro embarked on a coaching career that started out with Uniao Santarem, Uniao Montemor, Oriental and Nacional.
In 2003, Peseiro made a big move to Real Madrid, as he joined the Spanish giants as Carlos Quieroz’s assistant, and whilst that spell lasted just one year, the prestige of joining Madrid aided his career.

Spells in charge of Sporting Lisbon, Al-Hilal, Panathinaikos, Rapid Bucharest, Saudi Arabia and Braga all followed, whilst he took charge of Porto for the second half of last season, and Braga for the first half of this term.
Earlier this year, Peseiro was appointed as manager of United Arab Emirates side Al-Sharjah, making any move to Rangers seem unlikely, so soon after accepting a post elsewhere.
The 56-year-old has a wealth of experience, but he would be a surprise and somewhat bizarre choice from Rangers, who can’t afford another disastrous appointment like Paul Le Guen in 2006.
