Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been touted for Rangers this week.

According to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has no interest in leaving the club amid links to former side Rangers.

The Gers sacked Pedro Caixinha last month after a 1-1 home draw with Kilmarnock, as the Ibrox hierarchy decided to part company with the Portuguese boss after just seven months in the job.

That leaves Rangers looking for a new manager for the second time this calendar year, with caretaker manager Graeme Murty back in the hot seat for now.

Long-term, many fans want somebody with a Rangers history to take the job, with ex-Gers midfielder and current Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes the favourite, as supporters feel more knowledge of the club is needed to truly close the gap to Celtic.

One name linked as a result of betting odds this week has been Feyenoord boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, with the 42-year-old’s odds slashed on Tuesday and Wednesday, making him the second favourite for the job.

However, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf now report that it is ‘impossible’ for Van Bronckhorst to leave Feyenoord despite a disappointing start to the season, and his priority remains with the Rotterdam club rather than making a move to Rangers.

Van Bronckhorst guided Feyenoord to a first Eredivisie title in almost 20 years last term, but the follow-up has been difficult, as they sit sixth in the table with just five wins from 11 games, leaving them a whopping 12 points behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven.

Rangers may have seen this as an opportunity to hand Van Bronckhorst a return to Ibrox, but the former Gers left back – who joined the club from Feyenoord back in 1998 before leaving for Arsenal in 2001 – intends to stay in Rotterdam, his city of birth, and turn things around with his boyhood club.
