Ibrox outfit Glasgow Rangers have appointed Pedro Caixinha as the new manager.
Rangers recently appointed Pedro Caixinha as the manager. The Portuguese boss has replaced Mark Warburton, who parted company with the Scottish Premiership side last month.
Caixinha is 46 years of age and has a lot of experience. The Portuguese has managed Nacional, Santos Laguna and Al-Gharafa.
Rangers are one of the biggest clubs in the world and regularly attract 50,000 fans for their home matches at Ibrox.
There will be a lot of pressure on Caixinha, who will be expected by many Ibrox faithful to guide the Gers to a second-placed finish in the Scottish Premiership this season.
The Gers are third in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 47 points from 28 matches.
Rangers are eight points behind second-placed Aberdeen and 33 points behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic.
Heart of Midlothian head coach Ian Cathro has outlined what Caixinha should expect from the media in Scotland.
“I’d say the media scrutiny is probably similar,” Cathro told The Scottish Sun while discussing Caixinha. “In Portugal you have three newspapers about football and they talk more about football.
“So everyone’s tactics and more technical things are under more scrutiny and talked about by more people. And my understanding is here we are more headline and story driven.”
“Will anything surprise him here?” added Cathro. “The fact it’s difficult to go somewhere and have a really good espresso at 8pm or 9pm. The fact life ends here at 5pm.
“If you don’t cram in everything you need to do before 5pm here you have had it. There is no more life after that time!
“The ball being in the sky a little bit more often takes some getting used to as well. But a lot of the time it’s simple life things.”
Meanwhile, Rangers Managing Director Stewart Robertson has stated that Caixinha stood out in his interview.
“Pedro stood out at the interview,” Robertson told Rangers’ official website. “A lot of his characteristics too, he is clearly a strong character. He has quite a wide experience too.”
Rangers will take on Hamilton Academical at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
