Glasgow Rangers appeared to be reaching a conclusion in their manager search, but perhaps the Ibrox side have changed their plans.
With the Daily Express recently reporting that Derek McInnes was likely to be approached by Rangers after Sunday’s clash between the Gers and Aberdeen, you may have been forgiven for thinking that there would be little movement of significance in the betting market for the vacant manager’s job at Ibrox.
Sky Bet currently list McInnes as the 2/9 favourite for the post, and given that he has been odds-on almost consistently since Pedro Caixinha departed, it would certainly appear that it is almost only a matter of time until the Dons boss gets appointed.
However, a new second favourite has emerged, and it is a name who has barely featured amongst the contenders until now.
Sky Bet now list Dundee boss Neil McCann at 5/1, while Graeme Murty is 9/1 to be given the job full-time despite leading Rangers to second in the Scottish Premiership table after back to back wins over Aberdeen.

McCann made more than 100 top flight appearances across a five year spell with Rangers as a player, and is currently his enjoying his first managerial job, having been appointed at Dundee earlier this year.
The Dark Blues were struggling earlier in the season but have got themselves away from the relegation spots in the Premiership with two wins and a draw in their last three games, including a 2-1 win over Murty’s men at Dens Park last month – so it will be interesting to see whether anything comes of McCann’s odds dropping.
