Glasgow Rangers appear to be closing in on their new manager at Ibrox, according to the bookmakers anyway.
Little over a day since Pedro Caixinha was sacked by Rangers, and there already appears to an overwhelming favourite in the hunt for the Portuguese’s successor, according to bookmaker SkyBet.
Aberdeen boss and former Rangers player Derek McInnes has moved in from 5/1 second favourite to 1/2, amid speculation from The Scottish Sun which suggested that the 46-year-old had quickly been identified as the Gers’ top target after the tremendous job that he has done with their Scottish Premiership rivals.
The man he replaced at the top of the market, Graeme Murty has moved from 5/2 to 10/1 fourth favourite, but perhaps his odds will shorten once again if he guides the Light Blues to an impressive win in his first game in caretaker charge, which comes against Hearts this weekend.
Billy Davies has also moved in slightly, having been 10/1 for the job shortly after Caixinha’s departure, and is now listed at 8/1.
Amongst the current outsiders is the name Michel Preud’homme (12/1). The Belgian left Club Brugge earlier this year, and is just behind Frank De Boer (11/1), and ahead of Sam Allardyce (14/1). David Moyes (16/1) has moved out slightly over the last few hours, and is listed at the same price as former Rangers boss Walter Smith (16/1).
