The Rangers manager’s temporary spell ends this summer, and it is unclear whether or not he will continue at Ibrox next season.
Rangers manager Graeme Murty has reiterated that he does not expect to hear whether or not he has landed the permanent Ibrox position until the end of the season.
Murty was handed the role on an interim basis after Pedro Caixinha’s sacking last October, and made a bright start to his second spell as Rangers caretaker.
However a run of three games without a win – including home defeats against Celtic and Kilmarnock – looks to have dented the Yorkshireman’s chances of an extended stay at Ibrox.
Asked at a press conference on Friday when was the last time he spoke to Rangers – and specifically Dave King, the Light Blues’ chairman – Murty told the club’s official Youtube channel: “I spoke to [director of football] Mark Allen yesterday, I spoke to [managing director] Stewart Robertson yesterday, I speak to them on a daily basis about plans for the summer, about plans for pre-season, about plans for recruitment.
“As to my own role, I’m under no doubt – and there is clarity for me – I’m in charge until the end of the season. I don’t expect to hear anything before that.
“People who keep on asking me the same question will unfortunately get the same answer. It’s not that we don’t want to move on, it’s just the way it is and you have to deal with the reality of the situation.”
There had been talk of an unlikely push for the Premiership title as recently as last month, although Rangers have since slipped to third in the standings – only a point above Hibernian.
