Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers could reportedly lose Ibrox defender Danny Wilson to Colorado Rapids.

Danny Wilson of Rangers applauds the fans after the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Rangers defender Danny Wilson is on the verge of leaving the Gers and joining Colorado Rapids in the January transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.

The report on Friday claimed that Wilson was set to undergo a medical with the Major League Soccer outfit.

The 26-year-old defender is in his second spell at Rangers at the moment, but the former Liverpool man’s current contract with the Gers runs out at the end of the season.

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has not confirmed the speculation, but at the same time he has not dismissed them. No smoke without fire?

“Danny has options and, until those options are concluded, we will keep that in-house,” Murty told The Scottish Sun. “As soon as something is signed and sealed, we will let you guys know.”

Danny Wilson of Rangers heads the ball during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on December 31, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.

If Wilson was set to remain at Rangers, then manager Murty would have been vehement in his response to speculation about his player, but given the Ibrox boss’s comments, it does appear that the Scottish defender is on his way to MLS.

Wilson has established himself as an important player under Murty, and to many it will seem like a strange move.

However, with his contract running out in the summer of 2018, one can understand why the former Liverpool defender would want to join another club.
